Role Description: Senior Contracts Manager

Background

Blue Gem Wind (BGW) is responsible for developing two floating offshore wind farms in the Celtic Sea. The first, a 100 MW ‘Test and Demonstration’ project (Erebus) with milestones for FID 2024 and Commercial Operation Date (COD) 2026. The second, a 300 MW ‘early commercial’ project (Valorous) is also under development with the intention of achieving COD by 2030. These projects will contribute to the UK Government target of 5 GW of Floating Offshore Wind by 2030 and represent stepping stone projects to future commercial scale projects planned in the region.

Objectives

To deliver robust commercial agreements for the continuing development of both Erebus and Valorous projects.
Reports to:- Commercial Manager
Location:- Aberdeen or London (primary base) 2-3 days per week office and rest from home
Duration:- Full time

During the project development phase the main tasks of the Senior Contracts Manger will include:

  • Careful development and management of the commercial relationships with key suppliers,
  • Contributing to development of a commercial and procurement strategy for the pipeline of projects,
  • Developing contract documentation for specific packages of work, including major construction contracts,
  • Preparing and managing tender processes,
  • Leading tender evaluation and making selection recommendations,
  • Negotiation of contracts through to contract signature,
  • Commercial management of contracts after signature through to completion of the related works,
  • Effective claims and variations management to minimise cost overruns and ensure contractors comply with contract requirements,
  • Reporting to and advising senior management on contract issues arising,
  • Supporting the Capex and Opex estimation for the project,
  • Supporting preparation of competitive bids for state financial support,
  • Liaison and close collaboration with wider BGW and TotalEnergies teams,

The contracts and agreements under the responsibility of the job holder include the following:

  • Main supplier contracts for the project, including pre-FID agreements required with key suppliers and service and maintenance contractors,
  • Agreements required for cable crossing and proximity agreements,
  • Service and development agreements,
  • Landowner and asset owner agreements, and
  • Crown Estate seabed lease agreements, in particular to ensure project compliance with the lease

The Senior Contracts Manager shall demonstrate exemplary behaviour with regards to HSE rules, and shall ensure that all activities she/he is responsible for, or involved in, are performed with the highest level of consideration to HSE risk management, protection of human’s health, respect of various communities and care of environment.
