As we continue to make progress with our developments, we are also strengthening our team and announce that as of the 4th January 2021, Hugh Kelly is stepping down from the role of Project Managing Director in Blue Gem Wind. As a co-founder of Simply Blue Energy, Hugh was involved in the establishment of the Blue Gem Wind JV with Total, and has led the team and project from its inception. We thank him for the incredible energy and focus he has brought throughout the crucial, initial stages of the project and are pleased to advise that Hugh will continue his involvement in Blue Gem Wind as a Board Director.
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mike Scott from Total as our new Project Managing Director. Mike brings with him a wealth of experience in the renewable energy sector, in particular in offshore wind, and a background in delivering vital infrastructure projects, with his most recent role of Bid Director for Fluor. Mike is looking forward to leading BGW to demonstrate the deployment of significant scale, pre-commercial floating offshore wind, as well as promoting associated and sustainable UK supply chain development.
We also welcome David Groves from Total as our new Commercial Manager. Previously with Arcadis, David was Windfarm Cables Senior Contracts Manager for the East Anglia One offshore wind project, during which time he developed his expertise in the negotiation and management of offshore wind contracts. David will be responsible for all commercial and contractual aspects of our floating offshore wind developments in the Celtic Sea.
